AYLIFFE, Alex
Alexandra Anne Ayliffe graduated from Westminster University in 1983 and initially pursued a successful career in illustration, becoming a best-selling children's author and illustrator and in 2000 won the Sainsbury's prize for children's illustration. Alex Ayliffe is a contemporary abstract artist formerly living and working near Woodbridge, Suffolk and establishing herself as a significant abstract artist exhibiting with Gallery East at Woodbridge. In 2019 Alex graduated with a master's with distinction in Fine Art from the University of Hertfordshire when she went to her new direction as a professional contemporary abstract artist. Her work explores boundaries, borders, and edges, questioning how we interact with them and two of her works have been selected for the University of Hertfordshire permanent collection and she has exhibited widely including with the Society of Women Artists; Royal Institute of Painters in Water Colours; Pastel Society; Ipswich Art Gallery and at the Mall Galleries in London and elsewhere. Alexandra now lives in St. Albans, Hertfordshire with her family.
