JAMES, Cally
As Carolyne Elizabeth Crosbie, she was born at Sudbury, Suffolk in 1969. Cally, as she is known, studied at Suffolk College 1984-1987, now the University of Suffolk, taking a B.A. (hons) degree in English and History and, after a varied career with opportunities to be creative, working as a chef which allowed a creative flair leading to a career in cake decorating but her passion was in pottery. She married at Sudbury, Suffolk in 1995, Jonathon P. James and works as Cally James. It took several years to before taking up ceramics again but after the birth of her third daughter she was introduced to lady who taught ceramics and Cally became one of her students. Cally's enthusiasm for pottery grew and she purchased her own potter’s wheel and kiln. Cally then studied at the University of Suffolk completing an M.A. Fine Arts, Ceramics degree she then created 'Cally James MA - Ceramic and Sculptural Artist'. A member of Anglian Potters, the Suffolk Art Society and a former chairperson of Suffolk Open Studios from Lawshall, Bury St Edmund's, Suffolk also showing at Art on the Prom at Felixstowe. Cally teaches regular classes and does work on private commission.
