ART ON THE PROM
Art on the Prom Ltd was founded in 2015 at Felixstowe, Suffolk. Amongst the original promotors were Stephen Nicholas Wyatt (July 1950-) and his wife Mary Wyatt, and is now an annual contemporary art fair where professional and hobby artists display and sell original work. It takes place on Felixstowe’s popular sea front promenade where the setting adds an extra dimension. Over one hundred artists cover a wide range of media, and the event attracts an estimated 20,000 people. In addition to browsing and buying original artwork, free activity tents provide young and old with the opportunity to have a go at creating their own piece of art in one of the many media available. These include painting and ceramic tile making. Art on the Prom is a not-for-profit organisation run entirely by unpaid volunteers. The cost of the event is met by grants, sponsorship and the fee charged to artists for a stall. Sponsors benefit by being associated with one of Felixstowe’s best known and most popular events. The event was suspended during the 'Covid' restrictions but resumed in 2023 and the 18th exhibition was held on 1 September 2024.
