GARNER, Hilary
Hilary Garner was born in February 1960. As Hilary Waterhouse she married at North Cotswold, Gloucestershire in 1997, Robert Charles Garner and works under the name of Hilary Garner. Hilary started her art career by joining her local village art group and then progressed to taking classes with some talented local artists and in 2019 joined the Diploma course at Anteros Arts Foundation in Norwich which broadened her experience and enabled her to try many new subjects. Her tutors included Trevor Osborne, who has been very influential and invited her to join his Art Development Group, Sally Hirst, Annie Brundrit, Liz Monahan, Sarah Beare, Martin Laurance and Katarzyna Coleman. Observational and life drawing improved her drawing skills and, having put down a good drawing as a basis, she uses a combination of bold marks and an enhanced colour palette to create an expressive painting and recently has been enjoying portraiture using oils and pastels. A member of Suffolk Open Studios from Holton Lodge, The Street, Holton, Halesworth, Suffolk and has exhibited at Art Fair East; George Farnham Gallery, Saxmundham, Suffolk; Anteros Arts Foundation, Norwich and elsewhere.
