Simon Turner

Simon Turner is an assistant headteacher in a school where he runs all the co-curricular activities and alternates between Stoke Newington, London, and Suffolk. He works in a wide range of media and is a trained furniture maker and silversmith but also dabbles in textiles and sewing. More recently he has been painting on Suffolk timber, his work, with wood using scalpels, acrylic paints, tiny hand cut seagulls, ebonised oak, silk, sea glass etc., which involves a lot of masking tape, and he uses the Suffolk heaths, reed beds and coast as a focus for his work. Simon’s work is exhibited in various locations on the Suffolk coast such as Snape and Southwold and in London, Cambridge, and Yorkshire. His studio is a barn in the Suffolk village of Yoxford, his kitchen table in Hackney and, weather permitting, the beach. Simon is a member of East Anglian art groups such as Easterly Artists, Inspired by Becker, Art For Cure and Suffolk Craft Society and organises art exhibitions for students plus the work of students from a school in India. Simon, who is a member of Suffolk Open Studios, has exhibited widely from his house at 5 Park Place, Yoxford, Suffolk, with views of the fields, sea, and huge wind turbines, is a future venue for art shows.
