Tammany Hunt

Tammany Jean Hunt was born at Ipswich. A former maths teacher, Tammany is a self-taught artist, her practise has evolved through a variety of experimental methods, and she is always searching for new inspiration but her fascination with portraiture frequently calls her back. Tammy's pieces have settled upon a style that demonstrates a love of strong tonal values and fluid use of oil paint, pulled, or pushed across the surface to leave visible yet subtle brush marks. She likes to work quickly, feeling her way around the subject with paint from the outset. She is a member and trustee of the Ipswich Art Society from Sidegate Lane, Ipswich and has exhibited in Suffolk with the Humber Doucy Art Group and at Art on the Prom at Felixstowe; Artspace Woodbridge; Blackthorpe Barn, Rougham; Craft House Woodbridge; the Frame Workshop & Gallery, Ipswich; Gallery 142, Felixstowe; Highwayman's Gallery Risby; Higham Art Exhibition and elsewhere.
