Dorothy Stokes was born in Middlesex. She studied with The Open University for her B.A. (hons) degree with some elements of Art History and on her retirement gained certificates in Art and Design at Greyfriars Adult Education and at the Colchester Institute. After moving to Whinyard Way, Felixstowe, Suffolk she joined the Humber Doucy Art Group under Ken Cuthbert. Dorothy works in water-based oils, acrylics and watercolour, painting landscapes, still-life, and flowers with her love of colour coming from living and visiting Australia. Dorothy is a member and exhibitor at the Ipswich Art Society, the Woodbridge Art Club and Felixstowe Art Group and has also exhibited at Reunion Gallery and Gallery 142 both in Felixstowe.
