Susie Joyce

Susie Joyce, was born at Oxford in 1943. She studied at Ealing School of Art 1959-1964, specialising in textile design and printmaking obtaining a B.A. in textile and printmaking; Hammersmith School of Art 1973-1979 for sculpture; West London University 1980-1982 for pottery and ceramics. She also studied painting at The New Richmond School of Art with David Wiseman (born 1949) and also studied meltdown bronze casting courses. Susie taught textile design at The American College, Richmond, at Hounslow Borough College and also teaching in private art classes and is an interior designer and project manager. In 1997 she moved to Central London before moving to Hampstead and in 2000 to Clerkenwell. In 2010 she moved to Suffolk where she designed and project managed refurbishment of 500 year old barn which is now her studio. A painter, printmaker and sculptor, painting in acrylics on canvas and watercolours on paper and in 2015 elected to the National Acrylic Painters’ Association. Her work is is about her love of discarded objects, rusting and interesting and abstracting the images and show the beauty in things that we discard and her sculptures are made from found objects, fun and interesting. She has exhibited at New Richmond School of Art; The Gallery, Stoke Newington London; The Edith Grove Gallery, Chelsea; Small Gallery, Gunnersbury Park; Sackville Gallery, Piccadilly; Riverhouse Gallery, Walton; Jersey Gallery, Osterley House, Isleworth; St Ives, Cornwall; locally at The Lookout, Aldeburgh, Suffolk; Old Kings Head, Brockdish, Norfolk; regularly at Stradbroke and elsewhere.
