Susie Joyce

Susie Joyce was born at Oxford in 1943. She studied at Ealing Art College 1959-1964, specialising in textile design and printmaking obtaining a B.A. in textile and printmaking, followed by Hammersmith College of Art 1973-1979 for sculpture and at the University of West London 1980-1982 for pottery and ceramics. She also studied painting at the Richmond School of Art with David Wiseman (born 1949) and studied meltdown bronze casting courses. Susie taught textile design at The American College, Richmond, at Hounslow Borough College, now West Thames College and teaching in private art classes and is an interior designer and project manager. In 1997 she moved to Central London before moving to Hampstead and in 2000 to Clerkenwell. In 2010 she moved to Suffolk where she designed and project managed refurbishment of a 500-year-old barn which is now her studio. A painter, printmaker and sculptor, painting in acrylics on canvas and watercolours on paper and in 2015 elected to the National Acrylic Painters’ Association. Her work is about her use of discarded objects, rusting and interesting and abstracting the images and show the beauty in things that we discard, and her sculptures are made from found objects, fun and interesting. She has exhibited at Richmond School of Art; The Gallery, 13 Green Lanes, Newington Green, Islington; Edith Grove Gallery, Chelsea; Small Mansion Art Centre, Gunnersbury Park and locally at Aldeburgh Beach Lookout Arts Club, Suffolk and regularly at Stradbroke and elsewhere. A member of Suffolk Open Studios with her studio at The Studio, Brooklands Barn, Mill Lane, Stradbroke. Suffolk.
