James Power

James P. Power was born at Dartford, Kent in 1946 , son of James P. Power and his wife Joan E. née Jobson, who married at Dartford in 1945, and he comes from a family with horses in their blood since the turn of the 19th century. Young James lived and worked in the horse racing community in and around Newmarket and also worked in Henley-on-Thames, before retiring in 2011. An accomplished professional artist in oil, watercolour and in pastel, covering a range of subject matter. He married at Bexley, Kent in 1966, Jean M. Child and he and his wife now live in Debenham, Suffolk. A full member and on the executive committee of the Society of Equestrian Artists and has been a major prize winner, and in 1998 one of his works was adjudged ‘Best Racing Picture’ for ‘Horse and Hound’ magazine.
