JOURDAN, Pat
Patricia A. Jourdan was born at Liverpool in 1939, daughter of Vincent Robert Jourdan (8 April 1909-16 February 1995), a shipyard clerk, and his wife Cecilia Margaret née McGivern (21 September 1907-1984), who married at Liverpool in 1938. Pat spent her childhood at Liverpool and was educated at Notre Dame High School, Mount Pleasant, Liverpool and studied for four years at Liverpool School of Art, alongside classmates such as John Lennon (1940-1980) and Cynthia Powell (1939-2015), and artist June Burnett (born 1936). As an artist, her first paintings were sold at Hampstead Artists' Council yearly show and has exhibited in the UK and in Ireland with several solo exhibition including at The Bank of Ireland Arts Centre, Dublin and in 2000 at an exhibition of linked poetry and paintings, 'The Life Class', at the Davis Gallery, Capel Street, Dublin and has had many mixed shows including at Liverpool, London, Norwich, Galway and elsewhere. Her paintings also feature on the covers of books published by Orbis, Crannog and Microbe as well as on those of her own works, which include 'Maryland Street' (2015), 'Citizeness' (2015), 'The Fog Index' (2014)', 'A Small Inheritance' (2012), 'Finding Out' (2008) and many others from 1968. A former member of the Norwich Twenty Group 1980-1995 before moving to Galway in Ireland but since about 2006 has lived at Aldeburgh, Suffolk and is a member of the Ipswich Art Society and exhibited at the annual shows of the Aldeburgh Art Group.
