CURL, Henley Graham
Henley Graham Curl was born at Newmarket Road, Norwich on 25 May 1910, son of Percy Edward Curl (26 July 1874-12 March 1959), department store proprietor, and his wife Janet Elsie née Smethurst (7 September 1886-13 March 1959), who married at Marylebone, London on 19 May 1909. In 1911, Henley was living at Newmarket Road, Norwich with his parents, 36-year-old Percy and 24-year-old Janet, who was at born Bryan, Lancashire with four indoor servants. Henley, who passed his law examinations in 1939, studied at the East Anglian School of Painting & Drawing at Benton End, Hadleigh, Suffolk and as a student he spent some time in Jamaica. A council member and exhibitor at the Norfolk & Norwich Art Circle 1935-1984 from Thorpe; Swainsthorp and Wreningham, all in Norfolk and he exhibited at the Royal Academy. He married at Acle, Norfolk in 1949, Margaret Annie Johnson Taylor (8 September 1908-5 January 1976). Henley Graham Curl died at The Homestead, Church Road, Wreningham, Norfolk on 21 September 1989.
