SPICER, Mary
As Mary Ursula Woolner, she was born in S.W. Essex in 1954, daughter of John Robert Woolner (1932-22 October 2018) and his wife Ursula Mary née Palmer (1932-16 April 2013), who married in S.W. Essex in 1953. Mary married in the Mid-Devon area in 1978, David John Spicer, and paints under the name of Mary Spicer. Mary taught in secondary schools in London and East Anglia and taught 11-to-18-year-olds at the Sir John Leman High School, Beccles, Suffolk 1996-2001 and has worked for many years as an Adult Education tutor for Suffolk County Council in life drawing, general drawing, and painting. As well as tutoring for private art establishments, Mary currently runs workshops and gives talks to local art societies as well as teaching short courses in watercolour. A member of the Norwich Twenty Group, Norfolk Contemporary Art Society and has also exhibited at the St Giles’ Street Gallery, Norwich; Cork Brick Gallery, Bungay; Theatre Royal Norwich; John Russell Gallery, Ipswich and elsewhere from her studio at 28 Pakefield Road, Lowestoft, Suffolk.
