EDMONDSON, Chris
Christopher John Edmondson was born at Wharfedale, Yorkshire in 1943, son of John Surtees Edmondson (20 July 1916-6 October 2010) and his wife Monica née Rees (4 July 1920-7 May 2003), who married at Northumberland West in 1942. Chris has had a life-long interest in drawing and painting and, in retirement, took a B.A. degree in Fine Art at Suffolk School of Arts from University of East Anglia. He works in oil, using a restricted palette in a loosely representational style, also in pen and charcoal. Subject matter includes interiors, still-life and figure studies and ideas about isolation and introspection, creating mood using light and dark contrast. A member and treasurer of the Ipswich Art Society and has exhibited at Peter Pears Gallery, Aldeburgh; Beyond the Image Gallery; Forefront Gallery at Suffolk College, Ipswich, and Ip-art Festival, all in Suffolk and had a solo exhibition at the Rag Street Gallery in London in 2013 and has contributed cartoons to several publications. He married in Northumberland in 1969, Lynn Musgrove and has his studio at 89 Bucklesham Road, Ipswich.
