1943 - ?

Christopher John Edmondson, was born at Wharfedale, Yorkshire in 1943, son of John Surtees Edmondson (1916-2010) and his wife Monica née Rees (1920-2003), who married at Northumberland West in 1942. Chris has had a life-long interest in drawing and painting and, in retirement, took a B.A. degree in Fine Art at Suffolk School of Arts, University of East Anglia. He works mainly in oil, using a restricted palette in a loosely representational style, also in pen and charcoal. Subject matter includes interiors, still-life and figure studies and ideas about isolation and introspection, creating mood through the use of light and dark contrast. A Member of the Ipswich Art Society and has exhibited at Peter Pears Gallery; Beyond the Image Gallery; Corn Exchange, Forefront Gallery and Ip-art Festival, all in Suffolk and had a solo exhibition at the Rag Street Gallery in London in 2013, and has contributed cartoons to a number of publications. He married in Northumberland in 1969, Lynn Musgrove and has his studio at 89 Bucklesham Road, Ipswich.
