Helengai Harbottle

Helengai Harbottle, daughter of Reginald (-20 January 2001) and Mary Walsh, obtained her M.A. degree at the Royal College of Art and was the winner of several awards. At the end of a successful career as a textile designer in the fashion business, where she was known as an innovative pattern maker and colourist, Helengai was a visiting lecturer at the Royal College of Art for over 10 years. She studied at the Slade School of Fine Art 1996-2002 under the tutelage of Norman Thomas Norris (born 1932) and whilst at the Slade, won the Monnington Prize and spent a semester at the New York Studio School in Manhattan. Painting in mixed media, acrylic, drawing and oil, her work is both abstract and figurative and is based on landscape, still life and the figure. She works and lives at 87 Great Titchfield Street, London and has a studio at Holly Bush Farm House, Station Road, Brampton, Suffolk. A former member of Suffolk Open Studios and has exhibited in Norfolk, Suffolk and London including Merchant House Gallery, Lowestoft; The Cut Halesworth; North House Gallery, Manningtree, Essex; Norwich Castle Museums and Art Galleries; Gallery East and elsewhere.
