Esmond Bingham

Esmond D Bingham was born in Belfast, Northern Ireland in 1948. Educated at Ulster College of Art and Design 1968-1969 and at Wolverhampton Polytechnic 1969-1972, graduating B.A. (hons) in Fine Art/Sculpture and attended Goldsmiths College, London 1972-1973 for his Art Teacher's Certificate and Norwich School of Art 1997-1999 for his master's in Fine Art. Esmond married in 1982, artist Lindsay Harris and was an Associate Senior Lecturer in Design at Middlesex University. Bingham constructs using a broad range of everyday materials, his drawings are sometimes presented in conjunction with these works. He works across a variety of media both 2D and 3D and in scales ranging from environmental to miniature and are characterised by a strong interest in construction. He lives and works both in Hackney, London, and with his family at 8 Seven Gardens, Woodbridge, Suffolk. A past member of the Suffolk Group of Artists he has exhibited widely throughout the UK as well as Ireland, Finland, Belgium, and Russia.
