Working by initially pouring, rolling & splattering, ultimately it is impossible to have total control over what the paint is doing. Susan then builds the image up by applying many layers of glazing, so that it slowly evolves, resulting in an ambience and appearance, so each layer of glazing is an integral part of the final image, she also creates photo realistic drawings of the landscape in charcoal. The inspiration for her work comes from the surrounding countryside whilst also drawing upon folklore, mythology, and ancient history. She has exhibited at in Suffolk at Buckenham Galleries, Southwold; Blackthorpe Barn, Rougham; The Cut Halesworth; Peter Pears Gallery, Aldeburgh and at Harleston Gallery, Norfolk; Norwich Castle Museums and Art Galleries; The Lloyd Gill Gallery, 13 Beaconsfield Road, Weston-super-Mare and elsewhere. After a period in the Breckland in Norfolk with her two children, she returned to Suffolk and was a member of Suffolk Open Studios from her studio at Mundy’s Farm, Mundy’s Lane, Mendham, Suffolk.
