GILES, Julie
Anne Julie Savidge was born at Ampthill, Bedfordshire in 1946, daughter of Ronald Stewart Savidge (1 November 1915-23 August 2003), a consultant physician, and his wife Rita Muriel Lewis (22 November 1917-23 November 1987), younger daughter of John Henry Taylor Lewis of Ampthill, who married at Ampthill Parish Church, Bedfordshire on 22 May 1945. Julie studied painting at Camberwell School of Arts & Crafts 1965-1969 and taught at Centro d'Arte at Verrocchio, Italy and at Norwich School of Art 1965-1969. She married at Ampthill in 1967, Graham Giles and they moved to Suffolk, and they had three sons John William (1971), Thomas (1975) and Timothy (1980). She paints under the name of Julie Giles and is a member of the Suffolk Group of Artists, and has exhibited in mixed shows at Gainsborough's House Gallery, Sudbury, Wykeham Gallery, Hampshire, John Russell Gallery, Ipswich and at Ethna Dillon Gallery, Cotman Road, Norwich, with solo shows at the John Russell Gallery and at Chappel Galleries, Essex. She also had shown for those relating to Richard Scott's book, 'Artists at Walberswick' and Geoffrey Nunn's 'Southwold: An Earthly Paradise'.
