The Strand Gallery at 164 High Street, Aldeburgh shew an eclectic and idiosyncratic range of art, largely reflecting director Ron Howell's enthusiasms and friendships. Paintings and prints by modern British artists such as Terry Frost (1915-2003), Geoffrey Cyril Petts Clarke, Margaret Thomas and Sandra Betty Blow (1925-2006) are shown alongside those by younger artists such as Tessa Newcomb and Jo Gorner (1961-), as well as pieces by established makers such as jeweller Wendy Anne Jopling Ramshaw (1939-2018) and sculptor Guy Taplin (1939-). The gallery looked after the sculptor Jonathan Clarke and had curated shows in Venice, the National Maritime Museum, Falmouth and most recently a touring exhibition in Denmark for the Danish Cultural Institute. This Gallery is now closed.
