An artist whose work reflects his life, Chris Newson's work can be both raw and unpredictable, painting with generous amounts of oil with a jewel-like mix of colour associated with religious icons, the passion, intensity, and anger reflecting a difficult past. But you will also see calm studies of a Suffolk landscape, so real and sculpted that you want to connect with them.
