Robert Coppillie

Robert J. Coppillie was born at Westminster, London in 1951, son of Frederick Leonard Coppillie (26 April 1918-December 1987) and his wife Vera Georgina née Minter (29 February 1920-) who married at Westminster, London in 1943. A painter and teacher working in watercolour and gouache and produced meticulously detailed pictures of flowers and wildlife. Robert married at Colchester, Essex in 1976, Christine M. Vincent and moved to Suffolk, where he ran teaching courses at Snape Maltings. He exhibited at Snape Maltings Galleries also showing at the Society of Wildlife Artists and Haste Gallery in Ipswich and exhibited at the Ipswich Art Club from 22 Churchill Avenue, Ipswich in 1977, 'Tawny Oil', in 1978 'Rabbit, Summer' and 'Tawny Owl', in 1979 'Kestrel' and in 1980 three works 'The Phoenician', 'Memory' and 'Treasures from the Sea' and an annual exhibitor for several years. He has also had solo exhibitions at Harrods in London and several galleries in East Anglia. He now lives at Playford, near Ipswich.
