DEBENHAM, Alexander
Alexander David Debenham was born in 1983, son of Karl Debenham, a stockbroker, and his wife Mary R née Cockcroft, who married at Leicester in 1977. Alexander spent his childhood in Constable country and has been working in oils from an early age and continued to paint throughout his university studies and his career in advertising. After a decade of working in London, he made the decision to train as a professional artist and studied at Charles H. Cecil Studios, a private atelier in Florence, Italy 2013-2015 with his studies based on drawing and painting from life, using the centuries-old sight-size techniques. Based between London and Suffolk, he specialises in bespoke portraiture and still life, often marrying classical technique with contemporary subject matter and is now an established artist. Alexander's work can be found in private collections throughout the world. He exhibits with Highgate Contemporary Art, Hunter Gallery and elsewhere.
