TRENT PARK TRAINING COLLEGE

In 1947 the Trent Park Estate became the Trent Park Training College, a Ministry of Education emergency training college for teachers and in 1950, a constituent college of the University of London, Institute of Education a residential, co-educational training college. During the time as a college, famous alumni included film director Mike Figgis (1948-), and writer and broadcaster David Hepworth (1950-). In 1951 the entire estate was compulsorily purchased by Middlesex County Council as Green Belt land and in 1965 the Greater London Council took over the administration of the park and the London Borough of Enfield took over the college. In 1974 Trent Park Training College became part of Middlesex Polytechnic which in 1992 became Middlesex University in 1992. In October 2012, Middlesex University vacated the Trent Park site. Suffolk Artists who taught at Trent Park include Norma Pitfield and who trained there include Mary Brown, Elaine Nason, Richard Nejranowski, Jim Nind, and Richard Taylor.
