UNITED SOCIETY OF ARTISTS

1921 - ?

The United Society of Artists was founded as the New Society of Artists in 1921, originally established as an art organisation aimed at giving artists living outside London the opportunity to exhibit in central London. The Society is based in Carlton Terrace, London holding its annual exhibition at the nearby Mall Galleries. Over the years the aims have changed to welcome artists from across the UK. In addition, work of a professional quality in all media is exhibited under its auspices at other galleries in London and throughout Britain, with many of these exhibitions being open to non-members. Election to the Society is based on the production of a satisfactory portfolio of work. A newsletter "News and Views" is circulated to members several times a year.
