HUNTER, Henry Hay
Henry Hay Hunter was born at Beal, Northumberland on 4 March 1934, son of Lionel George Hunter (5 January 1901-1976), an implement maker, and his wife Ethel née Hay (born 20 March 1904), who married at Morpeth, Northumberland in 1926 and in 1939 were living at West View, Bedale, Yorkshire. Henry was educated at St Peter's School, York and married at Liverpool in 1961, Kathleen Cullen (1933-12 September 2010). Late in his life Henry studied art at Buckingham College, Northway House, 1379 High Road, London, 1995-1997 and is a painter with a passion for portraits, pet portraits and marine subjects as well as satirical illustrations. He exhibited at the Royal Drawing Society, United Society of Artists and elsewhere. His works are held in private collections in the U.K., South Africa, New Zealand, and Germany. A former member of the Southwold Art Circle, Suffolk with a studio at 11 Fairmile Close, Worlingworth, Beccles, Suffolk. Henry Hay Hunter died at Beccles, Suffolk on 16 December 2009.
