Spate Huntermann

George Robert Hunt was born at West Ham, Essex on 12 May 1934, son of George Hunt and his wife Annie M. née Peachey, who married at West Ham in 1933. A former design engineer, but a self-taught portrait painter, spending seven years painting in Cornwall, before graduating to abstract art. He studied at St Mark & St John, Plymouth 1982-1986 and did work under the pseudonym of Spate Huntermann. He married at Romford, Essex in 1956, Shirley Margaret Dunn and they had a son and a daughter. A former president of the United Society of Artists 2005-2008 and a member of The Dorking Group of Artists and of the Suffolk Open Studios. He exhibited at Beatrice Royal Gallery, Nightingale Avenue, Eastleigh; Chichester Open Art; Chapter House, Gloucester Cathedral and in the U.S.A., and has had solo exhibitions at Denbies, Bradley Lane, Dorking and Windsor Street Gallery, 6a Windsor Street, Chertsey. He donated to the Secret Postcard Auction from his home at Knott's Berry, 17 Ashton Road, Eye, Suffolk, a collage 'Whiter Shades'. George Robert Hunt died in 2014.
