WRIGHT, Andy
Andy Wright developed his varied talents as a youngster with a love of drawing. He worked on his craft and, since retiring from the Royal Air Force in 2003, has been busy with his painting and also his pottery, which can be similarly described as ranging from conventional to the bizarre. While living in Scotland, Andy started to concentrate on coastal and seascape scenes, which have formed a major part of his work since living in Woodbridge. A keen sailor, he has added paintings of old boats, dinghies, smacks and sailing barges to his many subjects, and has produced several aircraft pictures including the Buccaneer, Lightning and the classic Spitfire. Andy produces work in a variety of mediums and styles that compliment his choice of subjects that range from his serious, formal, and much-admired marine paintings to his more amusing and humorous but incredible intricate machines, many of which are transposed into pottery pieces. Serving in the Royal Air Force his painting commemorating the closure of RAF Manston was produced as a limited print. Andy is a member of the Woodbridge Art Club and, as a potter, is also a member of the Anglian Potters. He has exhibited at Woodbridge Library and in galleries from Troon to Essex and with Lloyds Private Banking.
