DE PLANTA, Liz
Liz de Planta was born in September 1964. After a degree in Modern Languages and a 25-year career as director and camerawoman in television and documentaries, in 2016 she returned to painting. As a self-taught painter she realised that she needed to better understand the principles and practice of drawing, so she enrolled on a series of courses at the Royal Drawing School in London. Understanding the importance of colour for creating an impression on the canvas she decided to start painting trees which forced her to mix colours, greens specifically, initially choosing to paint from photographs to obtain the angle looking up into the tree canopy from below. These paintings led to a sell-out solo exhibition 'Look up in Wonder' at The Tabernacle in London in Nov 2019. Living at Stowmarket in Suffolk, Liz exhibits with Arteast and continues to explore painting and deliver commissions from her studio at Old Jet Arts Centre near Rendlesham, Suffolk.
