Alexander Sam Costello was born at Hampstead, London in 1976, son of Terence Patrick Costello and his wife Beatrice née Callender, who married at St Pancras, London in 1972. He studied at Middlesex University gaining a first-class honours degree and a master's in fine art from the Slade School of Fine Art. A sculptor, performance, and video artist his ideas and work are generated through an interest in challenging and exposing the everyday absurdity of perceived normality. He has had artist's residencies at British Museum and Royal Collection, Windsor Castle; Royal Society of British Sculptors, London; Cleveland Institute of Art, Ohio, USA and Physics Room Contemporary Art, Christchurch NZ 2003. Alexander Costello is a member of the Royal Society of British Sculptors and has exhibited at Kelder, London; Space Studios, London; St Augustine’s Tower, Hackney, London; London Art Fair; Fold Gallery, London; University of the Arts, Utrecht; Galerie Laurence Bernard, Genève; Design Comune di Milano, Milan; Austerlitz Galleria Ciocca, Milan; Cleveland Institute of Art, Ohio, USA and elsewhere. Alexander Costello has also shown at Art station and lives at Kirkley Lowestoft and works, and teaches in Suffolk.
