Barbara Bernard is an American by birth and studied art in Belait, Wisconsin and learned silkscreen printmaking at Richmond and Hillcroft Adult Community College in Richmond, Surrey. Barbara has lived in England since 1971 and in 2013 she moved from Chiswick to Ditchingham, South Norfolk, and works from a spacious studio in her garden at Ditchingham Barn, Pound Lane, Ditchingham, Bungay, Suffolk, concentrating on painting in oils. Barbara was a silkscreen printmaker for many years but began painting in oils around 2006 and her paintings can be seen at the Southwold Gallery, Southwold, Cork Brick Gallery, Bungay and the Ferini Art Gallery, Pakefield all in Suffolk. She has exhibited at the New English Art Club at the Mall Galleries, London and at the Stables Gallery, Orleans House Gallery, Orleans Road, Twickenham. A participant in 'Artists at Home' open studios in the Chiswick area and is a member of the Harleston and Waveney Art Trail. As an avid needlewoman Barbara also offers a tapestry design service, specialising in architectural subjects such as house portraits. Barbara and her husband Brendon Bernard opened Broad Street Gallery in 2026.
