Rob Marrison

Robert Marrison was born in Yorkshire in 1965, son of Francis R. Marrison and his wife Josephine née Swindells, who married at Don Valley, Yorkshire in 1964. Rob studied at Harrogate College of Art, North Yorkshire. On finishing art college worked as a photographer in advertising both in commercial and industrial. He worked as a prison officer for several years before returning to a creative career as a painter in 2001. Rob has exhibited widely for three years, both solo and with various galleries, before relocating to Suffolk in early 2004. In 2006 he opened the Studio Gallery in Southwold, Suffolk. Rob concentrated on creating dark and dramatic paintings inspired by Suffolk’s landscapes and large skies, exhibiting with much success across the country including, in Suffolk at his Studio Gallery, Southwold; Thompson's Gallery, Aldeburgh; Pond Gallery at Snape Maltings; Ephemeral Gallery, Saxmundham and Peter Pears Gallery, Aldeburgh and at Keddleston Hall, National Trust, Derbyshire; Mezzanine Gallery in Millgate Museum, Newark; Percy Laws Memorial Gallery at Bassetlaw Museum, East Retford; King of Hearts at 11-15 Fye Bridge Street, Norwich; North York Moors National Park Centre and elsewhere. He has his studio at the Old Stables, Henham Park, Suffolk and lives in Saxmundham, Suffolk.
