BIEBER, Rosalind

As Vivien Rosalind Bieber, she was born at Lulworth Road, Southport, Lancashire in 1946, daughter of Samuel Bieber (12 October 1908-1995), a solicitor, and his wife Rita née Cussins (12 December 1912-16 November 1996), youngest daughter of Israel Cussins of Hull, who married at Hull Western Synagogue, Linnaeus Street, Hull, Yorkshire on 28 October 1937 and in 1939 were living at 4 Parkfield Road, Cheadle Hulme, Cheshire. Known as Rosalind, she was educated at Trinity Hall Girls' School, Birkdale and in 1962 won an open scholarship to the Royal Manchester College of Music this was followed by study at the Royal Academy of Music. In her early life Rosalind was a concert pianist and harpsichordist, giving regular recitals at the South Bank in London. This career was cut short by personal injury when she then became interested in painting and studied at the City & Guilds of London Art School in Kennington London for four years being awarded a British Council prize in her second year. Passionate about drawing, her work is serious, wide-ranging and is often humorous. She is playful in her depictions of her subject matter and playful too in her continuous use of different techniques. Her 'Natural World' images are a celebration of all living creatures, manifesting again the delight in varied materials. She has work in private collections both in England and abroad, exhibiting regularly in London over the last 25 years. A member of Easterly Artists and Suffolk Open Studios from 18 Lodge Road, Holton, Halesworth, Suffolk.
