ANSTEE-PARRY, Mary
As Mary E. A. Anstee, she was born at Abingdon, Berkshire in 1955, daughter of Denis Geoffrey Mellish Anstee (1926-14 March 2010), an army officer, and his wife Julia Elizabeth Errington Anderton (1925-23 June 2014), youngest daughter of Revd Peter Martin Anderton, who married at the Church of the Holy Child Jesus and St Joseph, Bedford on 12 May 1954. Mary married at Bury St Edmund’s, Suffolk in 1978, Richard Arthur Parry and had three sons, and now works under the name of Mary Anstee-Parry. Mary studied at Norwich School of Art, graduating with a B.A. (hons) in fine art sculpture and continued her studies in traditional woodcarving and gilding at City and Guilds of London Art School 1991-1993 where she became a 'notable alumnus'. Mary is a Member of the Royal Society of British Sculptors and has had many public commissions including 'Madonna and Child' for the Dean of St Edmundsbury Cathedral and for the Millennium Green Trust, for Guildford Borough Council and many others. Her private commissions include for several local churches and for Wyken Vineyards, Wyken House, Wyken Road, Stanton, Bury Saint Edmunds; St Mary's, Weston, Lincolnshire; Cambridge Schools and for many private residences. Mary has exhibited her work in both wood and stone throughout East Anglia and in London including at the Minories, Colchester; University of Leicester Harold Martin Botanic Garden; Elemental Sculpture Park, Cirencester; Suffolk Craft Society and elsewhere. She has her studio at Beech Cottage, The Street, Walsham le Willows, Suffolk.
