Hugh Denis Charles Fitzroy - 11th Duke of Grafton

Hugh Denis Charles FitzRoy, 11th Duke of Grafton, K.G., D.L., was born in Cape Town, South Africa on 3 April 1919, son of Charles Alfred Euston FitzRoy, 10th Duke of Grafton (4 June 1892–11 November 1970), and his first wife Lady Doreen Maria Josepha Sydney née Buxton (29 November 1897–28 July 1923), second daughter of Sydney Buxton, 1st Earl Buxton. From 1936 to 1970 he was known as the Earl of Euston. He married on 12 October 1946; Ann Fortune Smith (24 February 1920–3 December 2021) and they had five children. His father, the 10th Duke had been an accomplished watercolourist and his son as Lord Euston, studied art at Regent Street Polytechnic and exhibited at the Bury St Edmund's Art Society, held at the School of Art Building, Cornhill, Bury St Edmund's in 1948, holding his first London exhibition in 1962. Some twenty-five years later he returned to his painting and in June 1989 had a retrospective exhibition at the Malcolm Innes Gallery, in London, the exhibition was a success with more than three-quarters of the 62 paintings, landscapes and floral subjects, being sold. Hugh Denis Charles FitzRoy, 11th Duke of Grafton died at Euston Hall, Suffolk on 7 April 2011, being succeeded by his grandson, Henry Oliver Charles FitzRoy, 12th Duke of Grafton (born 6 April 1978).
