Sue Arnold

Hiilary Susan Arnold, following a degree in History of Art with conservation training at Camberwell School of Art, she worked in various studios both in London and Suffolk, conserving prints, drawings and watercolours. Her years working for the National Trust reflect her interest in historic interiors as well as fine art and she now devotes her time developing her painting and drawing skills with stilllife and landscape paintings in oils on board. Her starting point can be some engaging shapes, colours, a patch of light or even a mood. The task then is to make a painting with that as the subject, a process of breaking everything down into forms, relationships, tones and colours in a strong composition, and then, once the structure is there to paint loosely and intuitively, always trying to convey a sense of joy and light. When not in her studio she is busy researching new artists, visiting galleries and exhibiting including at Bury St Edmund's Art Society. A full member of Suffolk Open Studios from her studio at Old School, The Green, Beyton, Bury St Edmund's, Suffolk.
