ARNOLD, Sue
Hiilary Susan Arnold, following a degree in History of Art with conservation training at Camberwell School of Arts & Crafts, she worked in various studios both in London and Suffolk, conserving prints, drawings, and watercolours. Her years working for the National Trust reflect her interest in historic interiors as well as fine art and she now devotes her time developing her painting and drawing skills with still-life and landscape paintings. As Sue Arnold she now paints mostly still-life in oils being inspired by forms, their interrelationships and how light and colour play across their surfaces. Remaining grounded in close observation and figuration, she is working to develop her practice away from reporting, towards a more intuitive investigation of shape, colour, tone, and light. When not in her studio she is busy researching new artists, visiting galleries and exhibiting including at Bury St Edmund's Art Society. A former member of Suffolk Open Studios from her studio at Old School, The Green, Beyton, Bury St Edmund's, Suffolk and member and exhibitor at the Ipswich Art Society. Sue has also exhibited at the Institute of East Anglian Artists; Carousel Gallery, Framlingham; Handmade Gallery, Bury St Edmund's; Wingfield Barns and elsewhere. In 2021 she moved to East Sussex and was guest artist at the Chalk Gallery, Lewes, for Artwave 2021.
