QUAIL, Ben

Benedict M. Quail was born in Surrey in 1961, son of Paul Reginald Quail, a glass painter, and his wife Anne-Carole née Leplat, who married at Kensington, London in 1958. Ben was educated at Fakenham, Norfolk and studied at University Campus, Suffolk, now the University of Suffolk, Ipswich obtaining his B.A. (hons) from Norwich School of Art. He married in the Waveney district of Suffolk in October 2001, Sonia M. Smith. Ben works in East Suffolk and creates vibrant images in printmaking and mixed media using linocut screen print etching and collage, acrylic painting, drawing, etching and fine art painting etc. His work is of a colourful and humorous nature, and he uses sketchbooks as a visual diary and develops images from these and from his interest in ecology and wildlife. He exhibits at the London Original Print Fair also locally at the Norwich Print Fair; Craftco, Southwold; Halesworth Gallery; Ferini Art Gallery, Pakefield, Lowestoft all in Suffolk and at Lewisham Art House, 140 Lewisham Way, London; The Foundry, Old Street, London; Lewisham Arthouse, 140 Lewisham Way, London; Bath Print Fair and elsewhere. Ben is a garden/art designer and fine artist printmaker and has a Postgraduate Certificate in Education and CRB clearance and is available for schools and community tutoring as ‘Bittern Design and Rural Mural Co’, teaching print murals, bookmaking, wind sculptures and painted murals as well as other subjects. A Member of Suffolk Open Studios from his studio at Pakefield, Lowestoft, Suffolk. The author of 'A Fairly Natural History Alphabet' (2013).
