DOWE-EDWARDS, Virginia
As Virginia Clare Dowe, she was born at Ipswich on 9 May 1974, daughter of Graham John Dowe (17 April 1945-6 June 2020) and his wife Juliet J. née Cook, who married at Ipswich in 1967. Virginia married at Ipswich in 2001, Adam S. Edwards and works under the name of Virginia Dowe-Edwards. Virginia studied at University Campus Suffolk 1992-1994 for her BT Tech Art & Design and at the University of Wolverhampton 1994-1997 for her B.A. (hons) degree 3D design ceramics. Artist in residence at Edgbaston High School in Birmingham and whilst there began to exhibit her ceramics at various galleries and, joined by a friend, at her studio in Northampton and in 1999 began a business. In 2019 she featured in the BBC’s ‘Home Is Where The Art Is’ and continues to work from her studio in Suffolk and has exhibited her work at various venues including Shire Hall Gallery, Market Square, Stafford; Leith Gallery, 65 The Shore Leith, Edinburgh; Imagine Gallery, Long Melford, Suffolk; Pyramid Gallery, 43 Stonegate, York; Mid Cornwall Galleries, St Blazey Gate; Rostra Gallery, Margarets Buildings, Bath; Serena Hall Gallery, Southwold, Suffolk; Baxters Gallery, 12 Foss Street, Dartmouth; City Art Gallery, The Headrow, Leeds; Cambridge Contemporary Art and elsewhere and she has stockists in most major towns.
