Margaret Elfrida Marshall was born at Paddington, London on 8 May 1906, twin daughter with Emily Kathleen and one of the three daughters of James Cole Marshall (3 March 1876-24 December 1952), FRCS, an ophthalmic surgeon, and his wife Margaret Louise née Compton (26 October 1884-22 April 1960), who married in 1905, with their third daughter Ruth Elaine born on 18 March 1923. In 1921 the family were living at 36 Albion Street, Paddington when the twins are noted as Elfrida M and Emily K E. Margaret was a landscape, portrait, and flower painter, and as Miss Margaret E. Marshall, she exhibited at the Ipswich Art Society in 1933 from 'Feldafing', Sarratt Lane, Chorleywood, Rickmansworth, Hertfordshire, an oil 'The Rehearsal' she also exhibited at the Royal Academy; the Arlington Gallery; Walker Art Gallery and the New English Art Club 1928-1939. She travelled abroad extensively to Chile, Canada and the USA but was still alive when her father died in 1952. The family was also known as Cole-Marshall and her twin sister, Emily Kathleen Cole Marshall, died at Hillingdon, Middlesex in 1989.
