Roy Connelly

Roy Connelly was born at Stepney, London in 1966, son of Norman James Connelly (1939-3 November 1985) and his wife Margaret C. née Parnaby, who married at Brent, Middlesex in 1965. Roy works exclusively in oils, painting from life by direct observation of his subject, painting outside throughout the year and in all weathers with the delicate quality of light in the winter months being a favourite. He has exhibited at the Royal Academy; New English Art Club; Royal Society of British Artists; the Royal Institute of Oil Painters and in 2008 was an invited artist at the 'Discerning Eye' exhibition in London and in 2009 won the Chelsea Art Society Award for a painting. He also exhibits locally at Lavenham Hall Gallery and at Denton Fine Art in Lavenham and is a founder member of the 'Plein Air Brotherhood', a group that promotes painting on location from direct observation. He married in North Yorkshire in 2000, Victoria J. Forsyth and they lived at Mulberry Cottage, Partridge Row, Assington, Suffolk from where he teaches in plein air oil painting workshop at Assington Mill.
