JORDAN, Henrietta
Henrietta Jordan was born in Scotland in 1979 and where she spent her childhood. Henrietta was educated at St Mary's School, Ascot, Berkshire and studied at Newcastle School of Art 1998-1999 taking an Art Foundation Course followed by Newcastle University 1999-2003 taking a B.A. (hons) degree in French. She then attended Heatherley School of Fine Art, Chelsea and after work in both travel and property in London, attended London Fine Art Studios at Lavender Hill Studios in Battersea, London. Henrietta works directly from life and produces sculptured and textured canvasses, using a selection of brushes and palette knives. In 2013, together with her husband Nicholas Charteris, she moved to a cottage at Bentley near Ipswich. Her work includes landscape and still life and she also draw and paints portraits of children and dogs. She has exhibited at the New English Art Club annual exhibitions at the Mall Galleries in London and since her move to Suffolk has shown at Sudbury Arts Centre, Sudbury and with Cobbold & Judd in Stoke-by-Nayland with solo shows at Pond Hall Farm Studios, Hadleigh, Suffolk and The Lennox Gallery, Moore Park Road, London. She also has had many mixed exhibitions in London, Oxford, Cambridge, Newmarket, Hampshire and in Scotland and elsewhere. Henrietta now works under her married name of Henrietta Charteris and lived in Singapore where the tropical surroundings and juxtaposition of old colonial against new architecture excited her visual curiosity. Henrietta Chatteris is now back living in the U.K. and in 2022 exhibited at the Arteast Annual Exhibition, Framlingham, Suffolk
