RICHES, David
David Riches was born in the Depwade district of Norfolk in May 1959, son of Colin Edwin Riches (6 February 1929-25 November 2011) and his wife Pamela A. Franklin (born 8 April 1930), who married at Norwich in 1956. David studied at Norwich School of Art in 1980, gaining a degree in graphic design and founded a design practice, Visible Edge Ltd. David married at East Dereham, Norfolk in 1988, fellow student at Norwich, Helen M Riches née Donaldson, and their combined artistic talents have been handed down to their children, Robert, an interior designer and Victoria, a fashion designer in San Francisco. David diversified into property conversion and carpentry but with illustration and drawing being a fundamental part of his work. Around 2007 he commenced oil painting under the expert guidance of artists Tony Rothon (born 1949) and Sarah Nutley (born 1958) and joins them on their painting courses in Portugal. Together, with his wife Helen, they had a successful joint exhibition at the Aldeburgh Gallery and at the Royal Society of British Artists at the Mall Galleries, London, when he had on show 'Walberswick Beach'.
