Maria Papadatou

Maria Papadatou was born in Greece on 9 July 1979. In 2002 she completed her B.A., Fine art and history & theory of visual art at the Suffolk College under the University of East Anglia and her graduate show was at the Forefront Gallery, of the Suffolk College in Ipswich. Maria then took part in the European Volunteer Services (EVS) project in Austria where she worked in the Hartheim Gallery and at the art workshop for people with learning difficulties. After a year she returned to Greece to complete her EVS project, funded by 5,000 Euros to create five sculptures for the Town Hall of Lefkada in Greece. Maria then moved to Spain for five years, creating paintings for two art companies then spent six months in South America before returning to Greece where she worked as a self-employed artist, creating paintings for hotels, restaurants, and private clients. Returning to England in 2013, Maria launched a new business venture in 2014, FosCreations, which is based in Ipswich’s Suffolk Enterprise Centre, specialising in creating bespoke paintings for architectural and interior design offices, for hotels, restaurants, bars, and private clients. She has exhibited widely with solo shows in City Gallery, 53 New Walk, Leicester; Theodoros Stamos, Lefkada, Greece; Kunst Formen Hartheim, Alkoven, Austria; Greyfriars Art Space, Norfolk; the former Snobs Cafe in Ipswich Town Hall and elsewhere. She has also had numerous mixed shows worldwide including the Freudian Sheep Gallery, Ipswich and in Valencia, Spain; Lefkada, Greece; Plaka, Athens, Greece and Poznan, Poland.
