BARRITT-BROWN, Tracy
Tracy P. Barritt-Brown spent most of her life living and working in Guernsey in the Channel Islands. Tracy was educated at Ladies College, Guernsey and studied at the University of the West of England graduating B.Sc. (hons) in psychology. She has been fascinated by all things equine and her early dreams of owning horses came to fruition after university, when she secured a place on the Guernsey Show-jumping Team on her own horse 'Echo Beach'. In her late 20’s, illness forced her early retirement from the offshore finance industry when she began to concentrate on drawing and painting horses. In 1997, Tracy became involved in local art workshops in Guernsey and where she exhibited with the Havelet School. The success of this exhibition and a subsequent two-woman show, with Maggie Le Conte, convinced her to concentrate on her artistic career, particularly her equestrian paintings. Tracy has held a successful solo exhibition at Sausmarez Manor, Guernsey 'Sea…Horses', displaying both Guernsey landscapes and equestrian works. An Associate of the Society of Equestrian Artists, she works in a variety of media including pastel, watercolour, acrylic and mixed media also working with glass and ceramics. Tracy has exhibited both nationally, winning a best artist award with the SAA, and internationally and has several paintings accepted by the American Academy of Equine Art for their international shows. In 2002, she had her studio at Magnolia Cottage, Cock and Bell Lane, Sudbury, Suffolk which has brought new opportunities to explore other mediums such as ceramics and willow sculpture and Tracy has exhibited her ceramics and paintings on Art on the Prom at Felixstowe, Suffolk from 2015 and at Felix Gallery, Felix Road, Felixstowe.
