ALEXANDER, Samuel
Samuel Alexander was born at Needham Market, Suffolk and baptised at St Peter's church, Ipswich the same day the 4 November 1810, son of Samuel Alexander (16 June 1773-3 May 1838), a banker, and his wife Rebecca née Biddle (1777-13 December 1849), who married Kingston, Croydon, Wandsworth Quakers on 28 February 1805, young Samuel was the brother of Mary Ann Alexander. A member of the Ipswich Society of Professional & Amateur Artists from 1832, where he was tutored by Henry Davy. Samuel married at St Matthew's Church, Ipswich on 17 October 1832, Rebecca Upson (27 January 1803-13 May 1888). In 1839 he emigrated to Port Adelaide, Australia arriving on the 16 May. Samuel Alexander died in 1878, aged 68.
