Bernie Ward

Bernard David G. Ward was born at Lowestoft, Suffolk in March 1949, son of Percy George Ward (9 June 1906-1994) and his wife Sylvia Janet née Kent (20 April 1916-1992), who married at Lowestoft in 1941. Bernie was educated at Alderman Woodrow School, Lowestoft in 1964 and studied Graphics at Lowestoft School of Arts and Crafts in 1968 and he paints under the name of Bernie Ward. His work is graphic in style, stemming from his time working as a Layout/Graphic Artist at Super Sine in the sign and printing industry. He has a keen interest in transport resulting from him living on the busy A12 at Lowestoft, plus spending many hours trainspotting, until the demise of steam on the railways. His days of trainspotting along with a strong desire to capture old forms of transport instil his lively portfolio of paintings plus a diverse range of subject-matter in a variety of mediums. He was a member of the Lowestoft Art Group from 273 London Road South, Lowestoft, Suffolk.
