LEVER, Vernon
Vernon J. Lever was born at Sudbury, Suffolk in 1946, son of Hector Jack Lever (26 September 1902-1966), a hot water fitter, and his wife Ruby Ellen née Taylor (5 October 1918-5 December 1983), who married at Sudbury in 1940. Vernon married at Sudbury in 1972, Jacqueline C. Johnson. A former builder & carpenter at Long Melford, Suffolk and on his retirement in 2006, took up watercolour painting, taking a few classes but is mostly self-taught. A member of the Lavenham Art Society and of the Suffolk Art Society and exhibited from 11 Meeting Field, Long Melford, Sudbury at the 'Visions of Sudbury' at St Peter's church, Sudbury in 2013, a watercolour 'Freemen's Great Common'. A co-founder with Julie Iveson of Class Arts, a local non- profit organisation, organising exhibitions for local artists which held its inaugural exhibition in The Old School, Long Melford in 2020.
