PHILLIPS, Norah
As Norah Kathleen Steeds, she was born at Ipswich in 1934, second of the three children of Dr Rodger James Steeds (16 February 1904-4 July 1980), a general practitioner, and his wife Miriam Lois née West (10 October 1901-26 December 1977), who married at Hampstead, London in 1929 and in 1939 were living at 199 Nacton Road, Ipswich, the home of Dr Steeds parents. Norah married at Ipswich in 1957, Jon Phillips (11 July 1931-26 March 1984) and paints under the name of Norah Phillips. Although Norah has been painting since her schooldays, she is a self-taught painter, attending a few art courses under differing teachers. A watercolour artist with her favoured subjects of animals, painted from her own photographs. A member of the Orwell Art Club and exhibits at Art on the Prom at Felixstowe, Suffolk from her home at nearby Kirton.
