MAXFIELD, Helen
As Helen Elizabeth Watkins, she was born at Wolverhampton, Staffordshire in 1980, her mother's maiden name was Lawrence. Helen graduated with B.A. (hons) degree in Art from Lancaster University in 2001 and moved to Suffolk where she studied under Jude Lockie. She married in Suffolk in 2004, Kenneth Maxfield and now paints under the name of Helen Maxfield. A printmaker, specialising in hand burnished linocuts created in her studio, near Needham Market, Suffolk and is also a painter in acrylic and watercolour. Her current interests are familiar subject matters of animals, plants & flowers, landscapes, and people and tends to swing between lino prints and paintings, with inspiration normally evolving through the process of observational drawing and developing these drawings into linocut designs. She also runs untutored life drawing sessions in the local Ringshall Village Hall. Helen is a member of the Suffolk Craft Society and of Suffolk Open Studios from 7 North Acres, Willisham, near Ipswich and exhibits at Art On the Prom at Felixstowe; Ejart Creative, Woodbridge, Suffolk and at many other venues including Stradbroke, Hadleigh, Sproughton and Stowmarket, all in Suffolk, Diss in Norfolk, Great Horkesley in Essex and elsewhere. Helen also takes commission work.
