Susanna Hazel Pye was born at Lincoln in 1975, daughter of David M. Pye and his wife, Hazel Mary née Spencer, who married at Newark, Nottinghamshire in 1972. Suzi studied at City College Norwich for her Postgraduate Certificate in Education; Manchester Metropolitan University obtaining a B.A. (hons), Crafts, Textiles & Ceramics in 1997, and her Business and Technology Education Council Diploma, Surface Pattern Design from the Norfolk Institute of Art and Design in 1994. After teaching art and textiles for six years Suzi, together with her mother Hazel Spencer, in 2008 set up a garden studio at 14 Ivy Lane, Oulton Broad, Suffolk where she uses traditional and contemporary techniques including lino cuts, appliqué with fabrics and paper, watercolour, gouache and fabric printing and painting. She then creates contemporary designs from these processes by using digital software. She works under the name of Suzi Pye and is a member of the Phoenix Photography Group based in Lowestoft; the Waveney branch of The Embroiderers’ Guild and Waveney & Blyth Arts and exhibits at Craftco, Southwold; Ferini Art Gallery, Pakefield, Lowestoft and at the Lowestoft Arts Centre. Suzi offers tuition in a wide range of art & craft activities from her garden studio at Lowestoft with classes for both adults and children.
