Carol Saunderson

Born in 1961, Carol Saunderson grew up in East Anglia. She studied at Cambridge College of Art and Loughborough University and since 1995, a professional artist. Her abstract landscape paintings are derived from a combination of memory, imagination and the inspiration of the rural environment in which she lives and works, her paintings are also influenced by her love of mid-20th century painting and design, especially by artists such as Ivon Hitchens (1893-1979) and contemporary colourists such as Barbara Rae (born 1943). She regularly exhibits her work at galleries around the UK including Nottingham Castle Museum and Art Gallery; Wolverhampton Museum & Art Gallery; New Walk Museum & Art Gallery, Leicester; Fulham Palace Art Fair, London; Djanogly Gallery, Nottingham; New Leaf Gallery, Monmouth; The Barn Gallery, National Trust Greenway, Devon and Number Four Gallery, St. Abbs, Berwickshire, she also undertakes private commissions and is published as prints by John Lewis and greetings cards by Green Pebble. She returned to live in Suffolk in 2013 and is a member of Suffolk Open Studios from Wren Cottage, Tye Green, Alpheton, Sudbury, Suffolk.
