Toby Jonathan Mayhew was born in Suffolk in May 1964, son of Peter Robert Mayhew (28 July 1922-8 February 1997) and his wife Shirley Newton née Pratt (1926-4 March 2010), who married at Deben, Suffolk in 1947. Toby married at Ipswich in 1997, Rachel Shohet, a painter on enamel. Painting mostly in acrylics but sometimes in oil on canvas, with people, figures, local landscapes, still-life and abstract and works on commission for portraits. A co-founder and exhibitor at Gallery 142 in Hamilton Road, the main town street of Felixstowe, Suffolk. A full member of Suffolk Open Studios with a studio at 13 Brick Kiln Cottages, Chillesford, Woodbridge, Suffolk from where he can complete quick portraits for visitors.
